USTIN ANSCHÜTZ 'Surfaces, Processes and Intensities' To continue strongly with the previous exhibition titled 'A Natural Language', this exhibition has more emphasis on process and refinement of sculpture. The new work in glass is evident of these refinements. They are layered or built up as tapestries on a loom. The visual effect is like a 'pixelated' screen with light running accross its surface. My glass work in particular spirits away the veneer of the everyday and reveals hidden anxiety and aggression or the junction between glass screens, history and technology . It is also a unique African sensation that stands between commercialisation and cultural Identity. Not all the work is glass. The works in wood are a hybrid of engineering and use natural materials to produce statements of experience and existence. The experience here is of a bio-morphed flowering piece that has a centre and eclipses to its ends where there is nothing. Probably like orange flames on an orchid flower.
