Profit and Loss
Nadja Daehnke This exhibition consists of artworks which problematise notions of authority, aspiration and conformity. Daehnke reflects on the anxiety of pressure to conform and perform in the hypercommodified, fragmented and dislocating milieu of the late capitalist postcolonial world. Daehnke bases her paintings on historical texts and images which she recontextualises and manipulates through changing scale, layering disparate images on top of each other, and through the innovative use of materials. Opening reception: Wednesday 3 August, 6pm
